La redefinición de la zona contigua por la legislación interna de los Estados
Keywords:

Although the Geneva Convention of 1958 allowed the creation of a contiguous zone, relatively few states adopted a legislation that effectively establish a zone of that nature. Subsequently however the increasing adoption of a contiguous zone by coastal States could be seen. More recently, it can be seen that eighty States claim a contiguous zone, while the participation in the UNCLOS has reached the number 160 parties. After a period of uncertainty the contiguous zone concept has been re-affirmed as a concrete reality in legislative practice of States. However, it has not yet been adequately exploited the right to extend Coastal State jurisdiction in respect of archaeological objects, despite the creation by some countries of a maritime cultural zone.
