El largo camino de la protección medioambiental y la lucha contra el cambio climático
Keywords:
climate change, global warming, UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, IPCC, Kyoto ProtocolAbstract
This article analyses the main consequences of global warming, caused by the emission of greenhouse gases and the evolution of the main measures taken by the international community to protect the environment and combat climate change. Milestones such as the creation of the IPCC, UNFCCC, Kyoto Protocol and the last two summits in Copenhagen and Cancun are the focus of this article. Among the conclusions highlighted are the inability and unwillingness of the world’s major pollutants to adopt an ambitious and legally binding commitment to reduce Greenhouse Gases (GHG), and the knock-on effect that this has on the rest of the world.
